Teams

As a former Olyroo and with playing experience in Europe and the VPL, Michael Curcija has helped the Senior Men develop into the State League 1 squad that they've become. With a strong coaching group behind him, consisting of Michael Giacomi, Emmet Sheehan and Pino Santaluci, our senior men have had an excellent pre-season and are set for a successful 2018.

After roles as coach and technical director in the State League and NPL system, Murray Ovens joins the Royals family as Senior Women's Coach.  Murray comes to the Royals with a wealth of playing, coaching and technical directing experience across a variety of age groups (including seniors), female & male structures at established clubs including Eltham Redbacks and more recently Bulleen.

The club has been working with the newly appointed coaching staff as it plans to build on the good work and momentum achieved to date and enters the next chapter of growth. With the female program growing every year, the club sees this is a golden period whereby our Women's squads continue to improve performances and there is a clear path for development and fun for our junior Girls.

Junior (U12-U15)

U12 to U15 football covers both the skill acquisition and game training phase of football. Competitions exist for each age level for boys and U12 and U14 for girls with the season running from April to August.

Youth players train twice a week & play a game on Sunday against other clubs. Our players at this stage still rotate into different positions and have equal opportunity to play. The club usually fields at an A, B & C squad providing players of all skills with opportunity.

Although it depends on numbers, we generally field multiple teams in each age group. We select the grade for each team to try and provide an appropriate challenge.

Whilst girls are eligible to play in any of the Boys' competitions, we also field teams in the Girls competition as well as a Women Reserves for the older girls.

Mini-Roos (U8-U11)

For kids who want to train twice a week & play a game on Sunday against other clubs. Lot's of fun, learn and develop skills and make friends. We usually have 3 levels of teams for players of all skill.

U8 and U9 teams play 7v7 small sided football. Our U8 teams can include 6 and 7 year olds.

For U10 and U11 the formate is 9v9 small sided football games. A girls team will be fielded for U8 & U11.
