STATE REPRESENTATION | Essendon Royals' Luka Coveny off to Coffs Harbour for FFA National Youth Championships
Essendon Royals would like to congratulate Luka Coveny on his selection for the under-13 Victoria Metro squad and wish him luck at the Football Federation Australia National Youth Championships (NYC).
The FFA NYC commences on September 30 in Coffs Harbour, New South Wales.
Coveny was selected for the team following an extensive trial process and some hugely impressive performances for the Royals under-14s side.
Coveny, the son of Royals Head of Football and former New Zealand international and all-time top goalscorer Vaughan Coveny, is Essendon’s sole representative at the championships, being selected amongst a host of NPL players and even some from A-League junior teams.
Playing in the year above himself at Essendon has helped to further Coveny’s development under the watchful eye of his father.
As part of the Under-13 Victoria Metro squad, Coveny will take on Brisbane Roar, NSW Metro White, Tasmania, South Australia Red and Northern NSW in Group C.
The Championships are a gruelling affair for all involved with five group games spread over three days.
Coveny and his Victoria Metro team-mates kick off the tournament with an 8.30am match against New South Wales Metro White before an 11.30 kick-off against Tasmania on the same day on September 30.
On October 1, Coveny and Co. will take on Northern New South Wales before another double-header on October 2 when they take on Brisbane Roar and South Australia Red.
The rest of the fixture is dependent on Victoria’s group ranking.
The Royals community takes this opportunity to wish Luka Coveny all the best for the tournament ahead.
