MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT | Support Cross Keys move this Friday night as Royals Women continue to shine
Essendon Royals president Richie Di Sauro has heaped praise on the Royals women’s team and urged all members to support the senior men as they return to Cross Keys this Friday night.
The Royals women’s team has arguably been the highlight of the year as they continue to defy expectation and push for promotion from the Women’s State League 2 North-West division.
The women’s team have lit up Cross Keys Reserve for the last two weeks, holding league leaders Spring Hills Stallions to a draw and defeating second-placed Hume City 4-1 over the last two Sundays.
“As president, I’d like to pass on a huge congratulations to the girls on behalf of the whole club,” Mr Di Sauro said.
“The women’s team and coach Johno Clemente have been outstanding this season and have been playing amazing football in the process.
“To think that we only had a few players at the initial trials to where the girls have gotten themselves this season is a true credit to the players and coach.”
With the women’s team having warmed up Cross Keys nicely, the men will make their return against Men’s State League 1 North-West league leaders Preston on Friday night.
Food and drinks will be available at our fantastic new clubhouse facility located on the ground, from where our supporters will be able to enjoy the game from the comfort of our new surrounds, as well as from the clubhouse balcony which gives spectators a fantastic view of the ground.
The return to Cross Keys is the culmination of years of hard work by the Essendon Royals committee and the people who have and continue to serve on it.
Mr Di Sauro said that it was important that all Royals members and supporters get down on Friday night to support the team and the club as it embarks on this proud new era.
“It is so important our members and supporters get down to show everyone in the community and within the Moonee Valley City Council how proud Essendon Royals are of our new clubhouse and home,” he said.
“I hope to see all our members and supporters there to cheer on the boys as we look to cause an upset and take the three points against Preston.”
The match is also serving as the club’s sponsor day with all three major sponsors, Nicholas James Lawyers, Realm Investment House and Coburg Super Finish, as well as other sponsors such as Cross Keys Hotel and Metricon Homes to be represented at the match.
This offers members a great opportunity to learn more about these great supporters of our club and how they can help you as fellow Essendon Royals members.
The Royals hope to see all of you on Friday night for what promises to be a fantastic night of football.
