Essendon Royals picked up their first win of the State League 2 North-West Women's season in epic style with a 5-1 triumph over St Albans Saints.

The previously undefeated Saints struggled to cope with the Royals offensive power as new singing Steph Pantzapoulos made an instant impression at her new club, scoring two goals on debut.

Further goals from Marcela Marques, Sarah Domzalski and Michelle Vidanoski wrapped up the win in style.

The Royals women were up 4-0 by half-time in an impressive first-half showing which left coach Johno Clemente hugely impressed, especially with six players out of the squad.

"Six players unavailable today and to see how the girls dug deep to get the result they've deserved for a few weeks now was fantastic," Clemente said.

"We worked on attacking central and wide areas during the last two weeks of training and it looks like they were good sessions because it all clicked tonight," Clemente said.

"As a coach, to see stuff you've worked on in training come off in games is amazing and we've scored five goals tonight so I'm rapt."

With the rest of the round being played over the course of the weekend, the win is enough to see the Royals temporarily rise to fifth on the table and means Clemente's team are now undefeated in three games.

With a first win of the belt under the season, the Royals can now look forward to the rest of the season with renewed confidence and vigour as they look to make their way back to the top of the table.

The Royals return to home soil next Sunday when they take on the Maribyrnong Swifts Silvers at Fairbairn Park.
