SEASON 2020 | Stark signs on as Essendon Royals confirm shot-stopper's signature
There will be a familiar face between the sticks at Cross Keys Reserve with goalkeeper Michael Stark returning to Essendon Royals.
The goalkeeper returns to the Royals from National Premier Leagues Victoria giants Bentleigh Greens.
Stark is a renowned goalkeeping talent in Victorian football and has previously played top-flight Victorian football at Port Melbourne Sharks.
“At the end of the day, I had some unfinished business,” Stark said.
“I really enjoyed my time last time I was here and here I am ready for a new season and I want to win the title.
“That’s why I’m here.”
Even though he was only at the club 12 months ago, a lot has changed at the Royals.
The club has moved to Cross Keys Reserve and has a new senior coach in the form of former NPL Coach of the Year winner Vitale Ferrante and Stark said it was an exciting time to be joining the Royals.
“Vitale is a top bloke and I’ve played against his teams a couple of times in the NPL,” he said.
“Results never went my way against him! He’s always a tough coach to play against so I’m glad I’m on his side now and he’s part of the reason I’m here as well.
“[Cross Keys] is a top-class facility and I’ve seen it and it looks quality, so I’m excited to get on the park and get some wins on the board with the boys.”
