SEASON 2020 | Seniors Sign Up Mario Piraino

Essendon Royals are delighted to announce the signing of Mario Piraino for the 2020 State League 1 season.

Piraino arrives at the Royals with considerable NPL experience himself having spent several years with Whittlesea Ranges, which included time as the first-team captain.

“I’ve had some good chats with the coaches and I’ve worked with Carl [Recchia] before and I’m excited to be a part of this team,” he said.

“I’m just hoping for a good season and I know [senior coach] Vitale [Ferrante] and what he is all about, so I’m excited for what should be a good season.”

Piraino said he would look to bring a lot of leadership to the team and said he hoped his experience as a first-team captain would lend itself well to the Royals.

“I think I bring a lot of good leadership qualities and someone who can push the younger boys on,” he said.

“I’ll bring plenty of voice on the park.

“Speaking to the coaches, I know there will be some new faces and I know we’re shooting for the top few positions and then see what happens from there.

“It’s always exciting when you join a new club and you see plenty of new faces and boys together. It should be a good season.”
