Vaughan Coveny joins Royals as Head of Football
Essendon Royals is proud and excited to announce Vaughan Coveny as our new Head of Football. Vaughan will be heading up football strategy & programs across the club, working along side Senior Coach Michael Curcija and other key members of our football department. Vaughan comes to Royals with an illustrious playing and coaching history and brings a wealth of experience, football and coaching knowledge, contacts and pedigree to our great club.
Vaughan is a former New Zealand international and professional player for over 15 years with South Melbourne in the NSL and recently in the Hyundai A-league with Newcastle Jets and Wellington Phoenix.
Vaughan’s impressive coaching credentials includes stints with Melbourne Victory’s youth program and most recently with Sunshine George Cross where he has built a reputation as a top youth development coach of players excelling at the very highest level in Victoria and Australia.
Vaughan is a current AFC ‘A Licence’ coach and we are very grateful to have him on board to help the club reach the highest standards from our youth development to our Men’s and Women’s programs. Vaughan’s new role at the club is another key appointment for the Royals and continues the growth of our football department and steps to making Essendon Royals a major force in Victorian football.
