Being a member at Royals

Essendon Royals has existed as a club since 1959 but the club is nothing without it's members. Members are the basis that builds any club. The club has hundreds of playing members, coaches and team managers and officials who assist the club deliver the social aspects and footballing aspects of the club. We want the experience of being a member of the club to be outstanding and memorable. Come join the Royals. Come be part of the biggest community football club in the north of Melbourne.

How to become an Essendon Royals Member

Royals Members are either players or coaches or other club officials. All members need to be registered with the Football Federation of  Victoria and must have a current FFA number. Finally the club must approve your membership and you need to have paid the required fees for your membership category.

Membership Offers

Each year Membership offers are sent to returning and new members during October and November. Member offers are required to be accepted within 7 days by paying their deposit (or fees in entirety).

Season 2020 Membership Fees

The membership table below shows the standard fees for all players. Prices are also shown for players joining later in the season.

New members in Mini-Roos Boys attract a $100 New Member fee from U8-U12. Players who participated in our Essendon Royals Academy or our Aldi Mini-Roos Kickoff programs are treated as Essendon Royals returning members.

New members in Junior Boys attract a $100 New Member fee from U6 to U20.

What is included with Membership

Membership comes with the following benefits:

Players:

  • Mini-Roos and Junior Players apparel.

  • Senior Men & Women and Masters players apparel.

  • 2 nights of training and games on the weekend. Generally this means about 50 training sessions and 18 games.

  • Fees covers FFA and FFV fees, Referee costs, club costs and utilities

  • Access to our Academy Programs

  • Invitations to key club events

  • Access to Sponsor offers to members

Coaches

Coaches are also members and receive benefits of membership including:

  • Apparel

  • Guidance and assistance from our club technical directors

  • Access to coach education

  • Invitations to key club events

  • Coaches with children at the club are entitled to 1 membership fee being waived

Team Managers and Assistant Coaches

Team managers and assistant coaches are also members. They also receive benefits of membership. Team managers are provided puffer jackets and caps.

Training & Games 

  • Training is twice a week. Training nights vary by squad and age group.

  • Game day for Mini-Roos and Juniors is generally Sunday. Time vary according to fixturing by the federation. Game day for Seniors, Masters,U18 and U20 can vary from Friday to Sunday.

  • Training & Game locations are Cross Keys Reserve and Ormond Park (from April)

    • The 2019 season will be a special case with Cross Keys redevelopment occuring. Preseason training will be held at alternate locations.

Season

  • Junior Pre-Season has commenced (Feb 4 2019)

  • Round 1 for Juniors is April 7

  • Final round is yet to be announced (usually September)

Deposits & Refunds before preseason

Returning & New members are required to place a 50% deposit with the club to secure their place in the club. All deposits are non-refundable. Please see our Fee & Deposit refund policy for more information.

New players wishing to join now (where there are vacancies)

Members wanting to join now where there are vacancies will be asked to register and pay fees up front so that we can order your uniform.
